A Night to Remember: New Year's Eve with Prism Events
For New Year's Eve, we had the incredible opportunity to work with Prism Events to help them throw an unforgettable celebration. Our team brought in four upright truss towers, but the true showpiece of the night was a triangular LED wall setup, angled at 45 degrees, creating a striking visual centerpiece behind the DJs.
The Technical Setup
To bring the vision to life, we incorporated:
24x Vizi Beam 12RX Fixtures
4x GLP Impression X4 Bar 20
2x GLP Impression X4 Bar 10
10x AX1 Tube Lights to accentuate and highlight the shape of the triangle
The result was a meticulously crafted light show that provided an immersive experience for the audience, drawing gasps of excitement and awe as the synchronized lighting and visuals transformed the venue into a dynamic spectacle. The crowd was fully engaged, with energy levels soaring as the show built up to its climactic moments.
From Concept to Completion
Test fitting in the workshop
We worked closely with visionary, Gairy from Prism Events and Justin from ThatGoodGraphic, staying involved throughout the process to fine-tune the vision and execute something truly spectacular. Every great idea starts with a plan, and this project began with a hand-drawn concept. This allowed us to calculate the mounting requirements and determine the physical load on the 2" pipe we were using for structural support.
Angling everything at 45 degrees posed a unique challenge, as it significantly increased pressure on a single point. To counteract this, we added additional upright pipes halfway up the structure to redistribute the weight. Proper robust clamps were essential, as regular clamps risked shearing under sideways pressure.
The LED wall also required special attention due to the angle. Even the slightest misalignment could risk over-compression or separation of the panels, making precise measurements and mounting a top priority.
Execution and Integration
Although the setup did not require an overwhelming number of fixtures, the complexity of the design made execution anything but simple—it took eight hours to build and fine-tune everything, not including the programming time required for the Lighting Director, who also handled Resolume for video content.
The build was almost complete
Using Artnet on a GrandMA2, we enabled seamless integration between the lighting and video. This meant Resolume could be controlled directly, eliminating the need for an extra operator. The result? A synchronized light and video display, where the LED wall became part of the lighting rig, allowing for more dynamic and complex effects.
The Challenge of One-Night-Only Designs
Despite the incredible effort that went into this project, the most bittersweet part of the experience is that such a design only gets used for a single night. However, the impact it left on the crowd made every hour of planning, setup, and execution worth it.
We are incredibly grateful to Gairy and the entire Prism Events team for trusting us with such ambitious projects. These productions demand blood, sweat, and tears, but the end result always makes it worth the challenge.
If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind stage production that integrates lighting, video, and immersive visuals, we’d love to bring your vision to life—whether it’s for a one-night spectacle or a long-term touring setup.
Here’s to more unforgettable nights in the future!
